Class Blog for April 9th, 2018
Today in English, Matt had begun the lecture by running through a recap of last week’s lecture. Shortly after, Matt had his guest speaker come in to speak with the class. The guest speaker’s name was Kelly Grove and she came in to discuss sex and sex education to the class. The class was aiming to use this interesting presentation in order to understand and apply the concepts behind campaigning, something that would come in to play throughout our final project. One thing to note upon was how the guest speaker used several different facets to get her point across, such as a Youtube video, a Powerpoint, and general public speaking on sex education. After the guest speaker concluded with her presentation, class was dismissed.
Mini Presentation
For my Mini-Presentation, I was unfortunately absent the day I was meant to present and thus was unable to present it. Although this is the case, I will leave a link for you to copy in the case that you wish to go personally view it. It is a video by a professional blogger and video gamer named Nepenthez opening FIFA packs. I chose this particular text as my genre to focus on due to the fact that it is part of an interesting gaming community that is a world wide affair and is truly entertaining to watch. These type of texts are popular and are not only a mode of communication and a unique genre, but are a form of work and income for these people as well.

Class Discussion Choice

For my topic in the class discussion, I decided to talk to the class about their Project Three pitches and see if they had any particular questions they had wanted to ask and wanted an answer to. Public speaking is definitely a difficult task and asking other students about it and their pitches was definitely something that could do the class some good.
